Atlas Copco powers Jasmin Water and Beverages' Saudi plant

ADEN, March 17, 2021

Atlas Copco, a global provider of sustainable productivity solutions, said it has installed its TwinPower generators at a factory of Saudi-based Jasmin Water and Beverages located in a remote desert region of the kingdom, to power its production unit.

The TwinPower is a unique containerised portable generator that delivers unrivalled versatility, fuel economy, and twice the amount of on-site power than conventional independent power plants (IPPS).

Following the installation, which has been done through Atlas Copco Power and Flow’s official distributor in Saudi Arabia, GCC Olayan, the Saudi plant is now getting reliable and uninterrupted power supply for its 24/7 operations.

Atlas Copco TwinPower is a 20-ft ISO containerised unit housing two compact 500 kVA generators; powered by compact Scania engines. This configuration, with an advanced control system, allows the two generators to work independently or in parallel with each other.

This makes it ideally suited for applications that have variable power needs, whether due to the time of day or the current usage requirement.

When a large water and beverage factory like Jasmin Water and Beverages, which is based 120 km west of Riyadh city, needed a reliable and uninterrupted power supply for its 24/7 operations, they turned to Atlas Copco’s partner GCC Olayan for a solution, which inturn recommended four TwinPower generators, said a senior official.

"The QAC 1100 TwinPower is perfect for applications that require intensive use because it delivers high performance while maximising fuel efficiency, cutting associated running costs, and low-cost of ownership, amongst other benefits," remarked Ahmed R. Badawi, Regional Product Manager - Power and Flow.

"Also, thanks to its flexible design of two generators in one platform, it gives our client flexibility and the QAC 1100 generator works in the harshest conditions, such as a very hot climate in a Saudi desert," explained Badawi.

Ashraf El Nahas, the factory general manager at Jasmin Water and Beverages Factory, said: "Since the plant is in a remote location in the desert, without access to stable power grid, we had been facing frequent power failures, which hit our production. That is why Jasmin Water and Beverages required a reliable generator."

Engineer Ibrahim Nazih, Atlas Copco division manager- GCC Olayan, said: "As Jasmin needed 4,000 kVA to work in synchronisation, this is working together and not as separate units, Atlas Copco modified the totalization and distribution panel and fuel systems of the TwinPower units."

To ensure the best fuel optimisation, the company recommended using the PMS (Power Management System) mode, he stated.

"We are delighted Jasmin Water and Beverages Factory trusted us with this project, and we look forward to continuing working with them via our service package," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
