German tourism office launches podcast series

DUBAI, January 24, 2022

The German National Tourist Office (GNTO) is targeting higher engagement with high-level international travel and tourism industry professionals via the launch of ‘On the MIC with Petra Hedorfer’ – a new monthly podcast series exploring a wide variety of industry topics with in-market experts offering territory-specific and global insights.

Petra Hedorfer, Chairwoman of the board of the German National Tourist Board, said: ‘On the MIC with Petra Hedorfer’ welcomes a rolling roster of guest contributors every month, with notable guests thus far including Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, CEO of the China Outbound Tourism Research Institute, and Matthew D. Upchurch, Chairman and CEO of Virtuos, the global network of luxury travel agents.

“In line with our strategy and commitment to constantly review how we reach prospective travel audiences, in this case the senior heads and leaders of travel agencies and companies capable of attracting worldwide markets to Germany, ‘On the MIC with Petra Hedorfer’ fills the need for ‘on-the-go’ content through a tailored podcast offering insights and information to like-minded trade professionals,” said Yamina Sofo, Director Sales & Marketing, German National Tourist Office.

The German Federal Government’s Covid-19 travel restrictions allow for entry for EU-approved vaccinated travellers, over the age of 12, from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates but all travellers need to register on einreiseanmeldung.de before travel. Passengers below 12 years old who have not yet been vaccinated will be accepted for travel if they are accompanied by at least one fully vaccinated parent. Every passenger 6 years old and above must have proof of their Covid-19 status when entering Germany, regardless of the country they are travelling from.

Travellers from Oman can enter Germany regardless of individual vaccination status, meaning visitors can enter the country with a negative Covid-19 test taken 72 hours before travel. The EU issues and updates its travel recommendations to member states regularly. The safe list is reviewed and revised every two weeks by the EU authorities and members states. – TradeArabia News Service
