Oman hotel guest numbers up 43% in 2021

The number of guests staying in 3- to 5-star hotels in Oman jumped 43 per cent to around 1.219 million last year, up from 850,000 a year earlier, a report quoting the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) said.
The hotels generated a revenue of RO101.668 million, a 19.2 per cent increase compared with RO85.292 million in 2020, said the Oman Daily Observer report.
Hotels occupancy too went up by 44.9% from 26.5% to 38.3%, it said.
Arab countries accounted for 47,644 guests (97.3% increase compared to 24,154 guests in 2020); Asian visitors totalled 141,136, an increase of 93.5% compared to 72,930 in 2020; and European numbers fell by 40.3% to 105,558 from 176,820 in 2020.
