Saudi Games torch kicks off country-wide march
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, September 12, 2022
The country-wide march of the torch of Saudi Arabia's Games Tournament 2022, the first ever version and largest in the country's history, was launched in Riyadh yesterday (September 11).
The torch is scheduled to end up in Diriyya district on October 10, 2022, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
The torch was lit in the attendance of Prince Fahd bin Juluwe bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Deputy President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee who is also Director of the tournament; Princess Dilayel bint Nahar bin Saud, Deputy Director General of the Saudi Games Tournament, and members of the Supreme Steering Committee.
The country-wide journey is scheduled to cut more than 3500 kilometres of walking, or riding traditional ways of transportation to promote the values of the Saudi games in implementation of the goals of the life quality initiatives which come as part of the Kingdom's vision 2030.
The march is closely following the instructions and follow up of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, Minister of Sports, who also serves as President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Head of the Supreme Steering Committee of the tournament.
