General Hotel Management Ltd (GHM), a creator of stylish hotels and resorts worldwide, has announced the forthcoming departure of its visionary CEO Tommy Lai.
GHM said it will reveal the appointment of its new CEO in early November.
Tommy, who has played a pivotal role in GHM's remarkable journey since his appointment in 2018, will be leaving his position after months of careful planning and collaboration with the company's leadership.
During Tommy’s tenure as CEO, GHM has achieved outstanding milestones, including the grand opening of the iconic The Chedi Katara in Doha, Qatar, the celebration of its 30th anniversary last year, and the signing of three pivotal openings in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, introducing The Chedi Hegra, The Chedi Wadi Safar, and The Chedi Trojena.
His leadership and unwavering commitment to delivering unparalleled guest experiences and market share leadership have been instrumental in reaffirming GHM as a globally recognised luxury hospitality brand.
His departure, planned over the past several months, reflects his steadfast dedication to GHM's future success. He has worked closely with GHM's ownership and leadership team to position the company for a new era of growth and expansion while fortifying its presence in the GCC region.
Stemmed from his desire to re-evaluate his career trajectory, Tommy’s departure will now allow him to explore roles that align more closely with his personal passions and interests.
Commenting on his departure, Tommy said: “It comes with a heavy heart, but I take solace in the knowledge that GHM is in excellent shape, and its future remains bright. I have had the privilege of building a dedicated and capable team during my tenure as CEO.
