Marriott hotels in UAE offer 12,000 meals across community
DUBAI, April 4, 2024
More than 50 Marriott international hotels in the UAE came together during the Holy Month of Ramadan to provide over 12,000 meals across the community.
The hotels carried out a number of such initiatives in collaboration with The Giving Family, Dubai Municipality and Emirates Red Crescent, with the group also celebrating its annual ‘Iftar for Cabs’ in the UAE.
Pam Wilby, Chair, Marriott Business Council UAE and Multi-Property General Manager, Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel and Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, said: “We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our communities through our initiatives.
“Our initiatives during the Holy Month of Ramadan underscore our steadfast commitment to making a positive impact in the markets in which we operate.”
As part of their pledge to donate and help provide 24,000 meals in 2024, the Marriott Business Council in the UAE organised meal donation drives in collaboration with The Giving Family, Dubai Municipality, and Emirates Red Crescent to benefit individuals and families within local communities in the UAE.
Marriott also celebrated the 13th edition of its regional Iftar for Cabs initiative in the UAE. The initiatives were organised by Marriott’s Business Council in the UAE. During the hour of Iftar from April 3-5, over 50 of Marriott’s hotels in the UAE extended a warm hospitality to cab drivers by offering meals as they passed through the main entrances of the properties.
Catering teams across the hotels prepared Iftar packs, which included a diverse selection of food and beverage items. Associates from across various departments within all hotels, including catering, administration, and guest services, joined forces to bring the ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative to life.
Launched in 2010, the ‘Iftar for Cabs’ initiative has turned into an annual tradition for many cab drivers in the UAE. The initiative has been widely appreciated by hotel owners, local communities, and transport authorities.
Through its initiatives, the Marriott Business Council in the UAE remains dedicated to fostering a culture of giving back and community engagement and leveraging its resources and expertise to make a positive difference in the world.
The Business Councils initiatives falls under Marriott International’s Sustainability and Social Impact Platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction, which guides how the company makes a positive and sustainable impact wherever it does business.
From empowerment opportunities to sustainable hotel development, the platform is designed to foster business growth while balancing the needs of associates, customers, owners, the environment and communities. One of the priority areas, or “coordinates”, of Serve 360 is Nurture our World. 'Iftar for Cabs' is an initiative that directly supports and brings this vision to life. – TradeArabia News Service
