Emirates suspends check-in at Dubai International today

DUBAI, April 17, 2024

Dubai-based Emirates airline is suspending check-in for passengers departing Dubai International Airport (DXB) from 8:00 am on April 17 until midnight, due to operational challenges caused by bad weather and road conditions, the airline has said.

The Dubai International Airport itself advised passengers not to come to the airport, unless absolutely necessary as flights continue to be delayed and diverted.

Dubai International Airport has faced flight disruptions due to the unprecedented heavy rains in Dubai during the past few days.

Affected customers can contact their booking agent or visit https://emirat.es/support for rebooking, the airline said in a 'weather update' on its X account.

Passengers arriving in Dubai and already in transit will continue to be processed for their flights. Customers can expect delays to departures and arrivals, and are advised to check the latest flight schedules on https://emirat.es/flightstatus , it said

"We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Emirates is working hard to restore our scheduled operations, and our teams will provide all possible support to affected customers. Please DM us if you require any assistance," the update on X said.

Meanwhile, Dubai Airports said due to the unprecedented weather conditions in the UAE, Dubai International (DXB) is experiencing significant disruption. It’s challenging for departing guests to reach the airport and arrival guests to leave the terminals due to the significant flooding and road blockages, resulting in limited available transport options.

"We’re continuously working hard with our emergency response teams and service partners to restore normal operations as quickly as possible and provide support for guests. Flights are delayed and some diverted with many airlines impacted by displaced crew," it said.

Recovery will take some time and Dubai Airports thanks its guests for their patience and understanding while it works through these operational challenges, it said.

"We strongly urge guests to check directly with their airline to obtain the latest information on the status of their flight before coming to the airport and allow significant extra travel time," it added.- TradeArabia News Service
