MANAMA, April 29, 2024
Exhibition World Bahrain hosted the “Run for Autism” race for the second consecutive year on Saturday (April 27).
Bahrain’s Tourism Minister Fatima bint Jaafar Al Sairafi was present on the occasion.
Organised together with Alia Centre for Early Intervention, the “Run for Autism” event aimed to raise awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and support individuals and families affected by autism within the local community.
Spanning over 105,000 sq m of total indoor space, the sporting event at EWB has been set to be a memorable and impactful occasion, bringing together participants of all ages and abilities for a day of unity, inclusion and advocacy. The event featured a variety of activations including timed runs, family-friendly walks, entertainment, and educational resources about autism.
The event welcomed 500 participants, including children with autism, their families and caregivers, who took part in seven categories of competitive races.
On the sidelines of the event, the minister of tourism awarded the following supporting hotels: the Hilton Hotel, Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort and Spa, the K Hotel, KYRO Lounge and Restaurant, My Café Bahrain A Boutique Café, Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa & Spa, the Art Hotel & Resort, the Westin City Centre Bahrain, the Lost Paradise of Dilmun Water Park and others.
The expansive concourses at EWB were an ideal space for this social gathering with a noble cause, which reflects the venue’s huge potential for hosting large-scale sporting events with hundreds of guests under one roof, said a statement.
In addition to the races, a storyteller event took place where individuals shared their personal experiences and stories related to autism, which helped promote understanding about autism spectrum disorder.
By hosting this event for the second consecutive time, EWB aims to foster a supportive community environment, support a meaningful cause, and make a positive social impact as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals to be an active and positive contributor to the local community, it said. –TradeArabia News Service
