Quality first

01 October 2008

The Dammam-headquartered Construction Material Chemical Industries (CMCI), which manufactures a wide range of construction chemicals, will make “quality” the theme of its display while presenting its range of products at Saudi Build this month.

“It is our duty to educate engineers about the importance of using quality products in their construction projects,” says Bassam Bastaty, marketing and business development manager of CMCI.
He continues: “From our past experience, we have witnessed the delays faced by some projects because of unreliable sources for imported materials or the damage caused in some structures due to the wrong specifications or the use of the wrong materials. We have been approached by many consultants and architects to assist them in educating their contractors and applicators on the importance of using quality products.”
“CMCI believes that Saudi Build is a window of opportunity to be closer to the professionals who visit the exhibition and educate them about advancements in the construction industry,” he adds.
A market leader in waterproofing business, CMCI follows a strict and well-designed quality system in its operations and insists on high-quality products produced under closely-controlled quality control/quality assurance (QC/QA) procedures, he says.
The company obtained ISO 9001 certification in 2000 and since then has maintained a lead in the market by adhering to its commitment to providing the construction and building industry with high-quality products, according to Bastaty.
Established in 1984 at the First Industrial City in Dammam, CMCI is part of Khalifa Al Gosaibi Holding Company, a pioneer business group in Saudi Arabia. Its products range includes new-generation concrete admixtures, high-performance waterproofing systems, superior epoxy mortars, adhesives and coatings, advanced grouting systems for equipment and machinery, specialised protective coatings, new-technology joint sealants, complete concrete repair systems and curing and sealing products, among others.
CMCI’s production facilities, which are based in Dammam, are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery and equipment while its research and development (R&D) and QC/QA departments have sophisticated testing and measuring equipment.
The company has branch offices throughout the kingdom, including in Riyadh, Jeddah, Madinah, Yanbu, Khamis Mushayit, Hasa and Jubail, with warehousing facilities to service its clients. Its exports are handled by its office in Manama, Bahrain.
Apart from its focus on quality, CMCI has also initiated moves to get closer to its customers.
“It is our new strategy to work closely with our clients including specification engineers working on new projects as well as contractors and applicators to help them keep abreast of the advancements made in technology, so that they can avail of new materials that can meet their requirements and ensure quality construction.”
In addition, CMCI will be launching two new production facilities soon in a bid to be closer to its markets and to cope with the increasing demand for its products. It will also be introducing new products that are targeted at meeting the demands of the market.
Commenting on the Saudi market, Bastaty says: “Saudi Arabia is witnessing a boom in construction in various fields. Whether it is in residential or commercial buildings, or industrial, power, and petrochemical construction, all these projects require products with proven performance. CMCI has a track record of efficient performance over the past two decades.
“The company has been a reliable source of high-quality construction chemicals for various projects in the kingdom and elsewhere in the Middle East.
“The construction market in the kingdom is growing at a high rate and holds high promise at least for the next three to five years. The challenge is to be able to maintain one’s reputation in terms of on-time delivery. At present, we assure delivery within three to four days and we are working hard to reduce this to two days.”
The company employs well above 200 personnel including highly qualified engineers and chemists.
CMCI will be present at Stand 258 at Saudi Build.
