NEW details on three new healthcare facilities in Dubai – Al Maktoum Hospital, Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital and Nad Al Hamr primary healthcare clinic – were revealed at the Dubai Health Authority stand, during the inaugural Hospital Build Middle East Exhibition and Congress, which was held last month (June) in Dubai.
These facilities are among the 100-plus hospitals in the planning stage across the Middle East and North Africa, indicating that healthcare projects remain relatively unaffected because of the region’s governmental support and a long-term commitment to healthcare infrastructure growth, according to IIR Middle East, organiser of the event.
The first edition of Hospital Build Middle East, supported by the Ministry of Health, Health Authority Abu Dhabi, Dubai Health Authority, Saudi Association for Health Informatics, and Oliva Health, was launched following the successful staging of Hospital Build Asia in Singapore in April.
The exhibition also hosted the first Hospital Build Awards, which recognise and celebrate excellence in the design, operation and management of healthcare facilities in the Middle East. Amongst the winners included King Faisal University Teaching Hospital, Jeddah for Best Hospital Design – Built; University Hospital, Dubai, for Best Hospital Design – Future; The City Hospital, Dubai, for Best Interior Design – Built; Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Humanitarian City. Riyadh, for Best External Design – Built; Clemenceau Medical Centre, Beirut, for Best Sustainable Hospital Design and for Best Facilities Management Service Strategy; Health Facilities Licensing Department, Haad, Abu Dhabi for Best Healthcare Management Service Strategy; Clemenceau Medical Centre for Best Facilities Management Service Strategy; and FDC International, Kuwait, for Best Manufacturer of the Year Award.
