Nature inspires Turkish delights

01 August 2009

CANAKKALE Seramik and Kalebodur has joined hands with leading designer, Harri Koskinen, boost its prestigious lines by launching a special collection that is inspired by the rhythms and patterns found in nature.
Koskinen, who was inspired by the mesmerising forms of nature, created the Bond collection, which brings rhythm and the smooth forms of the natural world to ceramics. By using concave and convex tiles together, Bond reflects the movements that are present in nature.
“The Bond collection is designed to create stunning ambiances that echo elements of nature through colours, unique shapes and dimensions. Colour options, in the spirit of the collection, reflect the natural tones of elements like water, sun, sand, earth and stone,” says a spokesman for the Turkish ceramic company.
Developed by three-dimensional production technology, the beauty of the collection is enhanced by the use of concave and convex tiles together. Additionally, a version without relief enables installation over tiles, extending the special effects that can be created with this collection, says the spokesman.
Bond’s distinctiveness lies in the way it replicates the effects of light on surfaces. The collection is enriched with tone-on-tone colour transitions that create the glittering effects of light and shadow. “It creates charming ambiances that allure with light. The tiles with eye-catching lines and reflections combine aesthetics and emotions in nature. Concave and convex forms direct light to Bond’s inspiring surface,” adds the spokesman.
Gaining a worldwide reputation at a young age, Koskinen and his designs have received many prestigious awards in many fields ranging from textile to lighting. Creating impressive designs with simple lines, the artist is known for his love of natural materials such as glass, porcelain, wood and metal. Along with projects made for world-famous brands, his original designs like Block Lamp and Muu Chair have enabled him to rank among the most recognised designers of our time.
Çanakkale Seramik and Kalebodur was founded in 1957 and is one of the longest-established industry corporations in Turkey. Çanakkale Seramik is the first establishment of the Kale Group, which also pioneered a floor ceramic sector in Turkey with Kalebodur in 1972 and enhanced its leadership in the sector. With ongoing investments, its capacity has reached 62 million sq m annually.
The group has 45 factories and is considered one of the world’s largest ceramic producers operating in one field of production.
The factory produces 2,000 varieties of floor tiles and 1,350 varieties of wall tiles, introducing the consumers approximately 200 brand new products each year.
