RWI buoyant with Yas Island order

RUBBER World Industries (RWI), the leading manufacturer of closed-cell rubber insulation Gulf-O-flex in the Gulf and southeast Asia, has secured an insulation contract for Aldar Properties’ Yas Island – a 25-sq-km world-class leisure and tourist destination in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The agreement involves the delivery of high-quality rubber products, which will ensure efficient insulation across the entire development. The utilisation of RWI’s industry-leading products is in parallel with the developer’s commitment to eco-friendly construction processes, says a company representative.

Manufactured in adherence to the strictest quality control and safety standards, Gulf-O-flex is claimed to be the only rubber insulation product on the market that meets clients’ requirements in terms of preventing condensation or frost formation on refrigerant lines, cold water plumbing and chilled water systems.

Designed solely for professional mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) contractors, the high-performance rubber insulation is non-toxic, lightweight and easy to install, says the spokesman.

“The product has built a strong presence across the region, with a massive 56 per cent share in the Middle East for rubber insulation of pipes and sheets, and other rubber-derived products,” he adds.

“Rubber World Industries is proud to be a supplier for the Yas Island project and become a part of this pioneering development. This is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate the quality of our offerings as well as our credibility in supplying the highest-quality products to massive projects in Abu Dhabi,” said Abu Baker Shaikhani, chairman of RWI.

RWI, part of the international business conglomerate, the Memon Group of Companies, has pioneered the production of Gulf-O-flex in the Gulf and southeast Asia region, providing a versatile range of rubber insulation products.

The company showcased its high-quality rubber products at The Big 5 show, in line with its goal to achieve 25 per cent growth in its production by 2010. At present, the company produces a total of 1,800 containers per year, a significant increase from its annual 1,200-containers production last year.

At the show, RWI highlighted its polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tapes, which are used for floor and pipe protection; duct tape, which helps resist water, strengthens fabric, and is used to repair firearms and aircraft other military equipment; and aluminium foil tape, a material for shielding and covering thermal insulation to provide an excellent barrier to vapour on seams and joints of fibreglass and aluminium-backed duct board.

Additionally, the company also presented its aluminium foil electromeric for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration thermal insulation, an environment-friendly product that forms an effective barrier against moisture, air currents and vapours.

“Our commitment to innovation is continuously driving our growth in terms of product development and market share, thereby enabling us and our products to be part of the construction of prestigious projects such as The Villa in Dubailand and Motor City in Dubai, in addition to the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi,” says Shaikhani. “Participating at The Big 5 event was part of our strategy to showcase our newest professional line of products to a high-potential audience, and we are optimistic we will be able to further expand the market for our current range of high-quality offerings.”

With modern plants located in the Ajman Industrial Area in the UAE, the company claims to be the only producer of rubber insulation in the Middle East region, producing a versatile range of rubber insulation products to meet the requirements in the oil and gas fields, construction, shipping and automobile industries.

Since its inception in 1993, RWI has been delivering high-quality products to major property developments in the UAE, and is now exporting to other parts of the Middle East, Canada, Southeast Asia, South Africa, East Africa, Far East Asia and Europe

International exports of RWI’s products have also been a major contributor to the company’s Dh32.4 million ($8.8 million) in revenues in 2008 and overall global success.
