SAUDI insulation contractor Industrial Insulation and Cladding Services (IIC) says it is the regional leader in its field of specialisation with the capacity to complete any size of insulation project – no matter how large or complex – in the industrial sector.

Part of the Kabbani Contracting Group, which comes under the umbrella of IKK, the company offers the entire range of insulation and cladding services, specialising in thermal (hot and cold), cryogenic and acoustic insulation. “Our knowledge in these areas is second to none,” claims a spokesman for the company.

Proving that its claims are not unfounded, the Dammam-based company cites an extensive list of prominent projects, which include the Rabigh olefins plant; the gas treatment and compression facilities at Hawiyah gas plant’s NGL recovery plant; PetroRabigh off-site utilities; the onshore facilities project which is part of Khafji Field development plant Phase One; and Procter & Gamble’s industrial plant in Dammam Industrial City.

Its portfolio of key clients is equally impressive and includes leading firms such as Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic), Saudi Aramco, Consolidated Contractor Company (CCC), Snamprogetti Saudi Arabia, Tekfen Construction and Installation Company for Insulation, Modern Industries Company, Maritime Industrial Services Arabia Company (MIS), and Petrojet Saudi Arabia.

IIC meets the insulation and lagging requirements of industries such as petrochemicals, power, cement and pharmaceutical plants. It also fabricates pipe sections from blocks of cellular glass, polyisocyanurate and polyurethane.

“As cellular glass insulation is not manufactured locally, a minimum quantity is always maintained in stock to cope with the urgent requirements of our customers,” says the spokesman. “Similarly, a minimum quantity of lagging materials such as aluminium, aluminised, aluzinc and stainless steel sheets and associated accessories is also stocked as a buffer against delayed shipments or to meet urgent requirements.”

Elaborating on the need for its services, he says: “High-quality heat insulation is a prerequisite for cost-effective heat generation and complex production processes. It limits heat loss and is indispensable in cases where human beings must be protected from the heat generated by hot production plant components. Also, sensitive devices and heat accumulators cannot function properly without good heat insulation.

“Cold insulation, meanwhile, is required in applications such as cold storage rooms, refrigeration ships, and ripening chambers. These applications place very high demands on materials and design and call for sophisticated insulation measures.

“Acoustic insulation, which contributes considerably to the quality of life, calls for a high degree of technological know-how. Noise tests and analyses performed by the company’s acoustic experts form the basis for determining just what noise protection measures are required.”

Established in 2005, the 100-per-cent Saudi-owned IIC has more than 600 highly-skilled and dedicated workers, and can draw upon the human resources of its sister companies within the IKK umbrella. It has also established tie-ups with international companies for materials and technology supply.

“Systematic integration of innovative technologies and optimisation of fitting and installation processes are crucial for our core business,” says the spokesman. “Our major customers have always relied on us to carry out specialised tasks and depend on us for all their challenging projects.”

“IIC’s experience enables us match the insulation product and application according to our customers’ needs. From new construction to retrofitting, IIC is qualified to take up any project,” the spokesman says.

IIC insulation services include engineering, design, material supply, installation, survey of thermal insulation efficiency, maintenance and project management.

Quality and safety are accorded high priority by the company, which believes that its employees are its biggest asset. “To meet the specific requirements of the projects, our quality control (QC) department is required to prepare a QC manual specifically for a given project and issues internal procedures covering quality assurance and control to all sites,” he adds.

Other highlights of its service include prompt mobilisation within 24 hours in emergencies, availability on call 24/7, rapid completion of projects and competitive pricing, according to the spokesman.
