Bitunil, an Egyptian manufacturer of torchable and self-adhesive modified bitumen membranes (MBMs), is planning to expand its product range to include complementary products, in a bid to offer its customers enhanced services through providing total integrated roofing and waterproofing solutions.

Its products are designed to meet the requirements of most construction applications in various types of buildings. Its wide range of torch-applied and self-adhesive high-performance APP and SBS-modified bitumen membranes have superior mechanical properties to accommodate structural movements, and withstand tough site conditions. Some of these products include APP-modified membranes Bitubon and Bituter, the SBS-modified membranes Bituflex and Bitugum, and the self-adhesive membrane Nilo-Stick.

Bitunil was founded in 2000, by a group of well-established Egyptian, Arab, and European firms, with wide professional and industrial business experience and international exposure.

“The credibility of the founding groups, which include Al Zamil, El Banhawi and the Egyptian petroleum sector, set the course for Bitunil to be a leader in Egypt’s roofing industry,” says a spokesman for the company.

Bitunil’s plant is located over an area of 20,000 sq m in Alexandria, 3 km from the Alexandria Port. It is equipped with state-of art production lines to manufacture high-quality products, in strict compliance with internationally-recognised standards. Its production line, considered to be one of the most advanced for the fabrication of MBM in the world, has a design capacity of 25 million sq m of MBM per annum.

The company has managed to gain worldwide recognition for the quality of its products and has rapidly expanded its international markets around the globe, says the spokesman. It is committed to maintaining a high level of integrated technical support services to its customers, including owners, general contractors, consulting engineers and specialised roofing contractors, during the different stages of construction projects.

“The consistent product quality achieved by Bitunil is highly acknowledged by its customers. Such recognition is a result of years of experience and a policy of continuous improvement and development, combined with a quality management system developed in conformity with ISO 9001:2000,” says the spokesman.

“We at Bitunil, are proud of our laboratories which are equipped with the state-of-the-art testing equipment for quality control, quality assurance and research and development (R&D). These QC/QA procedures and testing are conducted in compliance with the international standards,” he adds.

Bitunil currently exports its products to five continents all around the world, and continues to penetrate new markets. In a bid to expand its export area, the company has been actively participating at international exhibitions, such as the recent Big 5 show in Dubai, which gave it an opportunity to meet new clients in the region.

“The show presented opportunities to fulfil our ambitious plans to enter other new markets in the GCC,” says the spokesman.

“At the show, Bitunil gained an insight into the major projects under way in the UAE, and the rest of the Gulf area, giving us the chance to make future plans regarding the best way to serve the area,” he adds.

Bitunil also arranged pre-scheduled meetings at the event with its key clients in the Gulf area from Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, as well as in India, he adds.

The company also took part in Batimat, an international construction exhibition held in Paris, France last November, where its stand was attracted numerous visitors.

Its wide product range serves the Asian continent, North America, Latin America, South Africa, Europe, Far East, the Middle East and North Africa. The company has a network of sales offices and distributors in all of its export markets to cater to the needs of its customers. As its products have the CE marking, they are being aggressively marketed in Europe.
