AT The Big 5 show in Dubai this month, Italy’s MB will raise the curtains on its biggest crusher bucket that it says represents a bestseller in the Middle East and North Africa (Mena) market.
“The success of model BF 120.4 is due to its key features,” says area manager Ilaria D’Ambrosio. “It’s suitable for excavators weighing more than 30 tonnes and for working in big yards.”
MB specialises in the manufacture and marketing of crusher buckets for excavators with jaw movement, a revolutionary product that has been designed and produced in Italy. The company offers four models of crusher buckets that can be used on all brands and models of excavators from 8 tonnes upwards.
“The flexibility of the crusher bucket is extraordinary, enabling small and large firms alike, working in the building, demolition, and earth-moving sectors in general, to recycle material obtained from crushing directly on site.
“MB products are highly efficient, not only in building and excavation work but also in special applications such as land clearance and rock-breaking applications. This high production efficiency of the product that helps cuts fixed costs in many cases has greatly contributed to its success in the market,” says D’Ambrosio.
“It has helped offset the impact of the 2009 financial crisis for many companies and they were able to save and earn at the same time,” she adds.

Commenting on the advantages of its crusher buckets, a spokesman for MB in Italy says: “Crusher buckets are a natural choice for those who are looking to cut costs and save time, particularly in the current unstable market.”
They guarantee functionality and reduced costs for material disposal, transport and supply; and they are designed to boost productivity, now and in the future.
“For this reason, whoever chooses MB’s crusher buckets does it not only for work requirements but also because they are looking to upgrade their equipment fleet and achieve higher work quality, while giving full consideration for the environment.”
Crusher buckets are simple to operate: the material can be taken directly to a yard or to any other location, after which it is prepared for the work cycle by means of grabs and jackhammers, he adds.
Crushing of loose material begins with the material picked, hoisted, carried and unloaded by the same bucket, and lastly crushed to the desired thickness. The resulting material can be reused for other jobs at the same worksite or be taken to other worksites and used to build yards, road embankments, drainage systems and for filling various excavations.
“For anyone operating in the earthmoving sector, the MB crusher bucket necessarily becomes a complementary piece of equipment,” says the spokesman. “It saves time, energy, resources and man-hours. Thanks to its ease of operation and functionality on site, it also leads to a significant cost saving in the entire disposal and procurement process.
This apart, it offers the ever-important advantage of reduced environmental pollution – a cause that MB has been staunchly supporting, alongside its customers. The company is currently being certified to ISO 14001 standards.”
“By recycling material generated from excavations or demolitions, the site will feature the same composition of materials as before – with the added advantage of eliminating pollution generated by trips to the dump to dispose of the material and others to procure materials that go into the new construction – not to mention the reduced wear and tear on roads and trucks travelling back and forth.
“All this has an even greater significance if we consider that many townships have enacted more stringent laws on trucks passing through their territory – in some cases, even preventing trucks to make more than two trips per day,” he says.
Many companies have chosen the MB crusher bucket as a must-have tool for their daily operations, particularly in the demolition and roadwork sector for the recycling of materials, and thus have opportunity to sell directly the rubble and gravel.
The spokesman continues: “Many entrepreneurs have realised that the profitability of the crusher bucket is comparable to, if not higher than, a regular movable crusher – while offering the advantages of easy installation and unbeatable use.
“Moreover, the impact of the crusher bucket is quite different from that of a fixed or movable crusher, especially when used in city centres. The use of a traditional crusher is often hindered by its size, which limits its use in many urban areas.
The crusher bucket, on the other hand, used in conjunction with an excavator, can be employed at all urban worksites, including those located in congested sites as well as in mountainous or hilly areas, where the use of a traditional crusher would not be feasible not least because of the difficulty in transporting it to the site.”
Traditional installations require an excavator for loading the crusher and another piece of equipment to clean the machine, without taking into account the preliminary operations of logistically setting up the material to be crushed.
Therefore, a crusher bucket is a consistent choice for cost savings as well as for more environment-friendly operations, he points out. Crusher buckets are easy to transport and inexpensive in terms of maintenance. They do not require their own operator, in addition to the one assigned to the excavator, and they save the fuel required by a movable crusher, which would be nevertheless supplied by an excavator.
All this with the added benefit of the eco-friendliness of the jobs carried out with the minimum amount of dust being raised and noise levels with low environmental impact.
MB expects the BF 120.4 crusher bucket to attract considerable interest at The Big 5 show, at which it has been a regular exhibitor.
“We have participated in the previous editions of The Big Five that helped us form useful contacts, many of which turned into profitable partnerships,” says D’Ambrosio. “Hence we expect to receive similar or an even better response this year.”
The company also considers this platform an important opportunity to promote its products and strengthen relationship with customers and dealers in the Mena region. “The company's goal is to evaluate the current market and get in touch with new customers,” she says.
In line with this objective, the company intends to use the Gulf as a bridge to establish new links with the African continent and Southeast Asia, according to D’Ambrosio.
In addition to the crusher bucket, the company’s Big 5 showcase will also feature a universal quick coupler, which she describes as “a winning piece of equipment that has made on-site jobs easy. It allows short installation times for various kinds of equipment – from crusher buckets to hammers, from traditional buckets to drills.
Among the recent addition to its product line is the screening bucket series MB-S – available in three models.
Established in 2001 MB exports to more than 100 countries worldwide and has a turnover of about €16.8 million ($23.5 million). Recent developments include the opening of a new and bigger warehouse and production department in Italy and subsidiaries in the US, in Germany, France and Japan.
MB (www.mbcrusher.com) will be present at stand C57 – Trade Centre Arena.
