High-spec tow truck is ‘best in class’

01 November 2010

MITSUBISHI Forklift Trucks has boosted its extensive warehouse range with the new high-spec tow truck TBR30N.
The new model shares many features with its stablemate, the OPB20NE low-level order picker, which won this year’s Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) Award for Ergonomics, says a spokesman for the manufacturer.

Designed for indoor use, the TBR30N blends operator comfort, precision control and sheer strength to deliver efficient and reliable performance. Among many innovations are its user-friendly Maxius steering wheel and controls.

“Designers at Mitsubishi have combined this with progressive steering, automatic speed reduction when cornering and drive wheel centring to deliver total driver confidence when manoeuvring at speeds of up to 12 kmph,” says the spokesman.

A safe limit of 2.5 kmph is automatically set when the truck is switched to walk-beside mode. The TBR30N’s small turning circle, together with responsive steering and a compact chassis, results in exceptional manoeuvrability, he adds. A limitless 360-degree electronic steering is available as an additional option.

“An unusually spacious, uncluttered operator compartment, with low step height and chamfered platform edges, gives easy walk-through access. The large non-slip working platform acts as a ‘dead man’s pedal’, allowing movement as soon as the operator steps onto any part of it,” he continues.

The suspended floor’s textured rubber surface absorbs shocks and vibrations to increase operator comfort, while a comfortable backrest reduces driver fatigue. An adjustable folding seat is among the truck’s many productivity-boosting options. The model’s pin and ball towing mechanism allows versatility in coupling.

High-capacity batteries, ranging from 375 to 465 Ah, maximise shift lengths, while battery rollers and fast battery lock ensure rapid and safe changeovers. Downtime is further reduced by a 600-hour service interval and RapidAccess features that enable quick and easy entry for checks and servicing.
