THE fourth Tower Tech 2011, a major exhibition on tower construction technology to be held this month (November 22 to 25), has received a fillip from a partnership agreement signed by its organiser, the Qatar-based Economic Group, with Pyramids International, one of the largest exhibition companies in the Middle East and Africa.
Following the agreement, around 50 companies from Turkey are expected to participate in the exhibition in a bid to tap into the huge potential offered by the Qatar market in the wake of its successful bid to host the Fifa World Cup in 2022.
Officially sponsored by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the General Federation of GCC Chambers, Tower Tech 2011 will be staged at the Doha Exhibition Centre in Doha, Qatar, and will provide a showcase for the latest technology in the construction of high-rises offered by specialists from across the world.

Tower Tech, the first exhibition in the region specialising in tower-building technology, will attract major engineering design and consultancies, engineering management and project management offices and banks, as well as companies specialising in finance, construction, foundation engineering and dewatering, with extensive experience in building towers with the latest technology.
Abdul Rahman Al Sulaiti, chairman of the Economic Group (EC), commented: “Tower Tech’s strength lies in its specialisation in modern technology in the field of tall towers. The event will be complemented by several seminars during which experts in smart technologies and safety features will speak on the latest advances in the construction of high rises. Hence, this exhibition represents a significant addition to our real estate shows.”
Nabil Al Sharif, managing director and director of projects and marketing, Economic Group, said the partnership between the Economic Group and Pyramids International will help boost trade between Qatar and Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Iran and Japan, thus reflecting the success of Tower Tech 2011.
He added that the participation of 50 Turkish companies is a triumph for Qatar, which is bolstering its preparations for the World Cup by building massive infrastructure.
Mohammed Al Sharif, Pyramids International Group’s chairman echoed Nabil Al Sharif’s views. “The participation of Turkish companies will be a vital parameter in disseminating knowledge about modern tower technology for the industry,” he said, adding that the tie-up will add a new dimension to exhibitions in Qatar.”
He also anticipates tower developers to sign major contracts with companies participating at the exhibition.
Expressing delight at the Economic Group’s partnership with Pyramids International, Al Sulaiti said: “The Economic Group has been able to benefit from its experience in organising previous editions of Tower Tech, where it achieved great success. This year we have managed to attract even more local and international companies, which has boosted our credibility in the Qatari market.

“Gathering these companies under one roof in Doha in light of the current economic scenario proves our capability as well as the financial muscle of the participants in undertaking projects in Qatar, a country that enjoys a strong economic performance and holds international appeal as one of the most active construction markets worldwide,” he added.
Al Sulaiti pointed out that Qatar will be the first country in the region to attract these experts in modern high-rise construction and stated that several other Gulf countries are now looking to stage similar events focused on the construction of high-rises.
“Through this exhibition, we also aim to project the right image of Qatar worldwide and focus on the ongoing renaissance in the construction industry and its earnest quest for specialised skills to build smart high-rise buildings. The renaissance in the sector, which began five years ago, focuses on urban planning and infrastructure to serve these towers,” he said.
