Indonesia to build gas line to Singapore

01 February 2000

Indonesia's state gas firm PGN will build an underground gas transmission pipeline from Palembang to Singapore via Jambi, Batam, to comply with Singapore's request for 400 million cu m of gas by 2005, according to the company's president Nur Subagio Priyo.

He said PGN, in association with state oil company, Pertamina, and its subcontractors, would apply high technology in exploiting oil and gas resources.

Meanwhile, a 150 km Jambi-Batam-Singapore undersea gas transmission pipeline will be built soon, since the gas holds promising prospects of increased foreign exchange earnings, he said.
