Optimal plays moving role in Gulf’s green plans

01 March 2012

OPTIMAL, Europe’s premier market leader in the field of tree-moving machinery, hopes to take its pioneering presence in the region’s landscaping sector to new heights, given the Gulf’s sustained efforts at keeping its desert environment green.

The German specialist machines manufacturer will be a keen participant at The Big 5 Saudi this month (March 10 to 13) to create awareness of its innovative line, which includes 11 sizes of tree spades. The spades cover the range from 35 cm to 250 cm rootball diameters. The smaller models are mostly used in tree nurseries, whereas the big machines work in landscaping, such as city parks or housing and hotel projects.

“More than 30 years ago, we were the first to successfully transplant adult date palms in Saudi Arabia,” says Roland Schlesag, the company’s managing director. “We are proud that our tree spades help to make this world a greener place.”

Optimal does not just follow trends, it sets them, he says, and its technology achieves a stunning transformation in the landscaping. “Trees enhance the quality of life and actually it is the trees that give a garden style and personality, while providing screening for privacy and a canopy for shade,” he says. “Courtyards with well-positioned trees give you a welcome feeling, tall buildings look better behind some foliage; a large crown reduces the reflected heat and glare, and a tree-lined avenue looks grand and elegant.”

While it can take a long time to develop a mature garden or landscape with adult trees, “thanks to Optimal tree spades, you do not have to wait for 20 years until your trees form a luxuriant grove. You can create your retreat right now”, says Schlesag.

Established in Germany some 50 years ago, Optimal has maintained a focus on development and enhancement. As a result, the company has excelled in performance, making it a household name in the world of tree digging.
