Modecor launches premium range

With the new premium Euroline range and already owning the popular Parqe brand, Modecor has strengthened its hold over the laminate flooring market.

MODECOR, the sole manufacturer of laminate flooring in the GCC and Middle East markets, has launched its new premium laminate flooring called ‘Euroline’, boosting its range that currently includes the popular ‘Parqe’ laminate flooring.

The new range is available in more than 15 unique decors and five different surface textures offered for the first time in the GCC market, where the product’s appearance and texture have been perfectly matched utilising the latest technology in laminate flooring production, according to Ziad Kossaifi, general manager of the Jubail-based company.

“This is possible thanks to its synchronisation technology where the surface structure matches the relevant decor it portrays and even an expert would have trouble discerning the difference, say between a wooden decor and real wood,” he says.

The company’s laminate flooring ranges are produced to conform to European standards. Parqe is available in more than 45 modern and classic decors with a natural wood finish, which combines the appearance of classic wood with a perceptibly authentic surface texture.

Kossaifi ... excellent price/quality ratio.

“Modecor uses state-of-the-art German machinery at its production facilities to assure clients of the top quality of its flooring products and value for money,” says Kossaifi.

The products consist of four layers: a highly resistant overlay, a high-quality decorative paper, high-density fibreboard (HDF) and balancing paper. To complement its range, decor-matching accessories are also available from the company.

Modecor’s laminate flooring boasts a host of properties, he says, including scratch resistance, resistance to fire and burn marks as well as to wear (grade AC3 or AC4), impact, stain and indentation. They are easy to install (glue free) and clean and maintain; and they do not generate dust and so do not require any sanding or polishing.

The firm claims to be the first lamination manufacturing facility of its kind in the Middle East and the largest manufacturer of panels, laminates and laminate flooring in the region. Apart from laminate flooring, Modecor also manufactures and markets thermo-fused melamine faced panels (MDF/chipboard); continuous high-pressure laminates (HPL, CPL), and melamine edge bands, employing the latest process technology of continuous lamination used by very few multinational firms in the world.

Its variety of decors and floorboards meets a wide range of applications that are not well served by the regional markets, he says. The company enjoys a host of advantages over rivals in the market. “Modecor’s strategic location and its state-of-the-art German machinery and technology allow it to penetrate and compete in the major global markets while offering excellent products, premium technical support, and prompt delivery, while ensuring an excellent price/quality ratio,” says Kossaifi.

All Modecor products meet international standards.

Furthermore, Modecor has achieved ISO 9001-2008 certification and all products meet international standards such as EN (European Norm) and ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials). Thanks to the high quality of its products, the company currently exports more than 60 per cent of its annual production to the European and other major global markets.

Commenting on the company’s performance in the flooring sector, Kossaifi says the company has registered continuous sales growth in the past six years in the GCC market. “Last year, we recorded a growth of 40 per cent, positioning us as the first choice of customers in the GCC market, thanks to our competitive advantages of European quality, prompt delivery time and after-sales services. To reinforce our presence in the market and to enhance our global competitiveness, we are now working on plans to introduce new decors and textures of laminate flooring over the next years.

“New surfacing products will also be launched on the market soon, which will allow us to maintain a lead in the GCC market and to develop new markets in Asia and Africa,” he says.

Modecor’s products have been used extensively in airports, hotels, hospitals, residential apartments, offices, shops and villas across the kingdom and in the other GCC countries. The company has supplied laminate flooring products to key projects in the region such as the King’s palace (Al Salamah Palace), King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabian Airlines offices, Saudi Electricity Company offices, Ministerial Agency of Civil Affairs, Le Meridien Hotel in Jeddah, Durrat Al Yasmin project, Riyadh Village compound, Saudi Aramco projects, Ikea outlet in Jeddah, all in Saudi Arabia; Blue Tower in Sharjah, UAE; the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Defence and Centre Point, all in Kuwait; and a number of other prominent projects across the GCC market.

Modecor started production at its Jubail Industrial City facility in 2000 with a dedicated team of more than 150 professional engineers and technicians, and subsequently set up offices in the UAE and Egypt in 2004 and 2006, respectively. The company also has a subsidiary in Germany, which was established in 2006 to serve the European market.

Its production plant can impregnate 40 million sq m of decor and kraft paper, produce 10 million sq m of thermo-fused melamine-faced panels, 5 million sq m of laminates and 1 million sq m of laminate flooring annually. Modecor is currently exporting its products to 21 countries in Europe, Australia, Africa and the Middle East markets.
