AceCad system helps improve cost efficiency

01 July 2012

STEEL construction companies from across the Middle East region, particularly in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt, are increasingly turning to the StruMIS fabrication and information management system to manage their businesses, says AceCad Software, the developer of the software.

One of the latest companies to invest in StruMIS and take advantage of its significant business benefits for steelwork fabrication is the William Hare Group, a global leader in engineered steel solutions, which recently signed a corporate agreement to purchase and implement StruMIS across its global sites. One of the recent regional contracts signed by the group is with Emirates Aluminium (Emal), for which William Hare will provide 18,000 tonnes of structural steel for a new potline at its Al Taweelah aluminium smelter in Abu Dhabi.

StruMIS is a complete dedicated management information and production system that enables steelwork companies to deliver improved cost efficiencies, increased productivity and profitability, says a spokesman for AceCad Software.
The StruMIS system harnesses the information flow and work processes through the steelwork contract between job functions, departments, suppliers and clients – from estimate tendering, through procurement and production and into construction.

“StruMIS steel fabrication management software is for engineering and steel fabrication companies who are looking to implement a fabrication management information system for superior performance across their business, including multiple sites or even across supply chains,” he says.

“Unlike some generic ERP/MRP (enterprise resource planning/material requirements planning) systems, StruMIS is dedicated to steel fabricators and provides a solution for superior management information and fabrication processing,” the spokesman adds.

He says the system delivers a streamlined workflow and connects all steelwork fabrication functions and departments. “This leads to many benefits including increased productivity and profitability, time and materials cost savings, improved accuracy and error reduction. Additional benefits are increased efficiency, automation of repetitive tasks, and reduced overhead potential and increased project traceability for quality control,” he points out.

StruMIS connects fabrication businesses using the system’s modules, which include enquiries and estimating, customers and sales, items and inventory control, purchasing and suppliers, contracts management, QS analysis, production control and document management.

“Superior integration with structural BIM (building information modelling) authoring systems and leading CNC (computer numerical control) machinery manufacturers, accounting and ERP systems, enables companies to connect and harness their processes. Some of the key aims of the software include workflow and automation advantages leading to greater efficiencies and organisational benefits through systems and processes. With real-time tracking facilities via 3D, model multiple project statuses can also be viewed, monitored and controlled more easily,” the spokesman explains.

Apart from the efficiency of the software, StruMIS also enjoys success in the Gulf because of the company’s focus on meeting clients’ needs and ensuring full support, according to Steven Watson, sales manager for AceCad Software. “Implementation of StruMIS within our client’s existing business environment is very important to us and we have developed advanced integration with the main steel modelling systems, CNC machinery and accounting systems. We also have dedicated training, support and sales teams in the Gulf region. With many major steelwork fabrication businesses using StruMIS, the system is often recommended by word of mouth.”

Simon Inman, technical manager for AceCad Software, comments: “We are delighted to welcome our latest clients across the Middle East region and are looking forward to working with them and supporting them with StruMIS through our technical teams.”

AceCad Software is a leading IT software developer of supply chain solutions for steel building structures and BIM collaboration in the architectural, engineering and construction (AEC), and industrial plant sectors.
