A unique multifunctional grading/dozing/planning machine has been launched by Joyley Graders of the UK.
Said to be suited for road maintenance, general ground preparation and contracting, the Joyley grader has won praise from plant hire companies, road building and agricultural contractor, local authorities, forestry commission, sports ground contractors and mining companies, says managing director Michael Canning.
Based on the New Holland M100 4 wheel drive power unit, the basic DG M100 model is complete with a grader and dozer. The DGP model has a powerful 100-mm hydraulic planer, designed to prepare metalled road surfaces in varying textures, while the DGS model incorporates a 10 point scarifier, ideal for cutting a keyway into an unmetalled surface.
The M 100 power unit is fitted with a state- of-the-art New Holland close circuit hydraulic system, while the grader hydraulics incorporate electro-hydraulic proportional control valves, tested to extremes of climate.
The manoeuvrable machine can plane (or scarify) the road surface, level newly-imported material and grade the road to camber or falls.
"The combined operation applications, mobility and manoeuvrability, reduced driver skilling and its cost effective operation, make the Joyley grader ideal for a variety of applications - forestry/fire breaks, unmetalled country road infrastructure repairs, sports field preparation and even underground haul road repairs," says Canning.
The Joyley DGP(S) M100 is designed to fulfill the requirements of the road maintenance contractor and is made up of an optional arrangement. Its primary functions are grading and dozing. The scarifier is used to cut a keyway into unmetalled road surfaces, after which the dozer pushes out the newly imported base material or the scarified surface. The grader is then applied to shape and camber the road to avoid the future development of potholes and standing water upon the road surface, he says.
"The planer is applied to prepare metalled surfaces of varying textures, to a maximum depth of 150 mm. The dozer and/or grader blades are then utilised to remove the planed material, and/or further prepare for sub-base. The planer can be used effectively to grind hard road stumps on quarry haul roads, remote tracks and underground applications."
When adopting the dozer and grader only, it is possible to maintain the agricultural ploughing and rear handling equipment as standard, thus ensuring total utility in remote areas, says Canning.
He continues: "The introduction of the Joyley grader range follows more than three years of intensive product development, trials and modification to produce machines which are compact, manoeuvrable, self transportable, quick, require little skill to operate and above all, have a performance that is outstanding."
