A number of technologically-advanced medical facilities are being set up in Dubai, UAE, boosting the already impressive range of healthcare services in the emirate.
Many healthcare and training institutions are choosing to set up facilities in the emirate including the Dubai Innovative Surgical Technology and Training Centre (Distec), the biggest of its kind in the world.
To be located in New Dubai opposite the Mall of the Emirates and covering 10,000 sq m, the facility is expected to position Dubai as the new capital for surgical training and education. It will have state-of-the-art conferencing and meeting rooms with remote access, state-of-the-art simulation laboratories for surgical training, a wet lab with 20 stations fully equipped for animal-based endoscopic- and laparoscopic training, a robotic surgery training centre, and a research facility focused on advancing newer technologies in training. The facility will also include large exhibition areas and supporting conferencing services.
Another well-known organisation, the Saudi German Hospitals Group (SGH), plans to construct a hi-tech medical tower that will accommodate 215 leased clinics, six specialised medical centres and an expansive educational centre in Dubai.
One of the largest collection of private medical care in the Middle East and Africa (Mena) region, SGH-Dubai features 300 hospital beds as well as new and ultramodern healthcare infrastructure within a 90,000 sq m, five-storey facility.
Meanwhile, a partnership between the operators of Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi and the Middle East and North Africa’s foremost orthopaedic and joint replacement surgeon, Dr Samih Tarabichi, will see the opening of a new highly specialised orthopaedics hospital in the emirate.
Known as the Burjeel Hospital for Special Surgery and Tarabichi’s Centre of Joint Surgery, it is set to open imminently and will become a new centre of excellence for orthopaedics in the Middle East, offering advanced surgeries including joint replacement to patients from across the region.
The hospital and centre also has a knowledge-sharing and training partnership with Helios Endo-Klinik Hamburg – a specialised clinic for bone, joint, and spinal surgery, which has achieved a worldwide reputation for the treatment of diseases of the locomotor system.
