QATAR Aluminium Extrusion Company (Qalx) will be joining this year’s Project Qatar following its highly successful participation at the event last year.
Its acting general manager Manjunath N Rao says the focus of the show on the Qatar market as well as the streamlined set-up of the event have prompted his company to return to Project Qatar this year.
Commenting on last year’s exhibition, he says: “The response to our stall was very good. We received many inquiries and sales deals were inked four months after the event.”
Qalx, an aluminium extrusion profile manufacturer, will be exhibiting a range of aluminium extruded profiles produced by the company Established in 2009, the company recently boosted its production capacity and registered “good” business levels last year. Qalx is also a certified powder coater for Jotun.
Buoyed by its performance, the company is now looking at further expansion of its production facility.
A brainchild of QIMC (Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company) and set up with the support of a number of local business partners, the company has advanced facilities spread over a 28,000-sq-m plot at Salwa New Industrial Area in Doha. Its state-of-art technology plant and equipment include a 2,250-tonne extrusion press with 4S (stem shift short stroke) technology with an annual capacity of 10,000 tonnes; a hot log shear, which enables a reduction in both material inventory and scrap generation as it cuts the billets to the required lengths, thus maximising yield; a log oven with a design capacity of 4,000 kg of output per hour; and a taper quench unit of billets for achieving quality extrusions by maintaining a constant temperature of the extrudate.
Other advanced machinery at the facility include an Intense run out cooling system for both hard and architectural alloys; a double puller operation for improved productivity and short idle time; a stretcher that delivers precise stretching, thus enhancing profile quality and minimising; a profile cutting finish saw with a cutting length up to 8, 500 mm, which is extendable in special cases; an ageing oven designed to deliver rapid aging of every profile in every batch; die ovens; and a fluidised nitriding furnace to enhance the surface quality of the products.
Qatar Aluminium Extrusion Company, which currently has a staff strength of 70, can be visited at Stand S93 at Project Qatar.
