Eco-friendly resort launched on Sir Bani Yas Island

01 August 2013

THE latest villa resort in the UAE that has been designed to incorporate sustainable design opened on Abu Dhabi’s Sir Bani Yas Island last month (July).

Developed by Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC), the Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort will complement the existing Desert Islands Resort and Spa on the island, both managed by Thai hospitality group Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas, and will offer guests an alternative private-stay experience while providing them with five-star luxury hospitality services as well as a variety of adventurous experiences.

The five-star luxury villa resort comprising 30 luxurious beachfront villas is the first of two new developments to be launched as part of the Sir Bani Yas Island expansion, with the Anantara Al Sahel Villa Resort scheduled to open at the end of this year.

Al Yamm was inspired by the Arish – meaning palm leaf architecture and home of the early fishermen and pearl divers, that was capable of deflecting the heat and reducing the temperature inside. The interiors of the resort have been carefully designed to incorporate sustainable features to beat the heat during summer.

Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort, which is located on the eastern shores of Sir Bani Yas Island, consists of 16 beach-front villas overlooking the Arabian Sea and another 14 overlooking a lagoon rich with mangroves.

Each of the 21 one-bedroom villas, seven one-bedroom pool villas and two two-bedroom Anantara pool villas with individual plunge pools, feature a luxurious rainforest shower with a large freestanding bathtub to unwind in, as well as high-definition flat-screen TVs and an iPod docking station.

Ahmed Al Fahim, executive director of marketing, communications, sales and leasing at TDIC, said: “We are delighted to launch the new Anantara Al Yamm Villa Resort, our latest and unconventional hospitality development, which strengthens our long-term partnership with Anantara. We anticipate that this distinctive villa resort concept will bring a new dimension to Sir Bani Yas Island’s offerings, attracting a greater number of visitors to the emirate that will support Abu Dhabi’s goal as a leading tourism and cultural destination.”
