Schneider UPS suits small businesses

01 August 2013

SCHNEIDER Electric, a global specialist in energy management, has launched the MGE Galaxy 300i UPS (uninterruptible power supply) system, a simplified and reliable solution for protecting small and medium businesses, commercial buildings, and technical facilities.

The robust and easy-to-install system offers reliable power protection at the best price-to-performance ratio, according to the company.

Galaxy 300i is a three-phase UPS product that is fully RoHS (Restriction of the Use of Hazardous Substances) compliant. The power efficiency rates up to 90.5 per cent with output transformer claimed to be higher than other UPS systems with similar features. This efficiency provides lower operational and cooling costs over the medium and long-term periods, the company adds.

Olivier Delepine, vice-president Gulf countries, IT business Schneider Electric,  says: “Based on feedback from our channel partners and core customers, we identified power availability, dependability, manageability, and ease as some of the prime benefits that UPS systems must offer for low and medium level power users. The latest Galaxy 300i system has been designed to deliver a user-friendly device at an affordable price range. It is particularly recommended for end-users acquiring a three-phase UPS for the first time.”

The UPS system uses a double conversion online topology that provides a regulated and reliable power supply. It offers an integrated transformer and an internal mechanical bypass in order to provide higher levels of power availability. “These features, combined with the compact design and easy installation, meet all the key requirements of customers looking for a three-phase UPS in the 10 to 40 kVA power range,” he says.

The Galaxy 300i system helps users monitor and manage power requirements locally and remotely through a simple web/SNMP interface and a user-friendly display available in 18 languages.

For convenient power distribution, both three-to-three and three-to-single phase power configurations are available. Servicing of the Galaxy 300i is greatly enhanced by allowing front panel access for ease of maintenance in confined spaces.

Schneider Electric, which has operations in more than 100 countries, offers integrated solutions across multiple market segments, including leadership positions in utilities and infrastructure, industries and machines manufacturers, non-residential building, data centres and networks and in residential. Focused on making energy safe, reliable, efficient, productive and green, the group’s 140,000-plus employees achieved sales of €24 billion ($31.28 billion) in 2012, through an active commitment to help individuals and organisations make the most of their energy.
