PASCHAL-Werk G Maier of Germany is all set to return to Saudi Build with new versions and updates to its famous formwork systems.
The international specialist for concrete formwork, shoring systems, formwork planning software and related services – which has a regional office in Bahrain that operates under the banner of Paschal Concrete Forms – offers a comprehensive spectrum of services for concrete construction based on 50 years of experience. These services range from the development and production of high-performance formwork and shoring systems to related software and customer support.
“The spectrum of products offered includes systems for modern wall, slab and support formwork, customised formwork, climbing and platform systems, support structures and bracings, as well as specialised software systems for planning, organisation and management in the concrete construction,” says Hussam Ibrahim, its Saudi-based technical and sales manager, who adds that Paschal has exhibited at previous editions of Saudi Build as well.
On display at the company stand this year will be the company’s Trapezoidal Girder Formwork (TTR) which is termed the most sophisticated system for circular structures, such as tanks and reservoirs. Also promoted at the show will be Logo.3, a modular adjustable column formwork, and Modular/GE Universal Formwork.
Ibrahim says some of these systems have been revised and improved. As such, Paschal has added the dismantling inside corner post to the Logo.3 system.
“The dismantling inside corner post is a very practical addition to the Logo.3 formwork system,” explains Ibrahim. “When constructing the shell of a structure, the movable dismantling inside corner post greatly reduces the time required to form and dismantle the inner formwork for lift shafts, stairway cores and structures with tight spaces.”
He continues: “This system addition was first presented to trade professionals in 2013 at the bauma trade fair (the world’s leading international trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment held in Munich, Germany) where it was met with great enthusiasm. Now, almost all trade partners have integrated the Logo.3 dismantling inside corner post in their range and many customers have purchased it to expand their formwork materials, as the dismantling inside corner post is also compatible with the Logo alu formwork system.”
In other developments, Paschal has come up with the so-called Logo concreting platform to enhance safety and speed up assembly.
Ibrahim says: “For decades, the work space for wall formwork has typically featured planks placed on L-shaped platform brackets, which are individually assembled onto the erected wall formwork, and boards that are installed as lateral protection. Not only is valuable time lost until everything is individually installed, but this also does not necessarily establish the level of safety mandated by legislation.
Now, Paschal’s Logo concreting platform solves these problems. Not only does it afford on-the-spot safety, but folding the platform is also fast and safe.
The company also offers the enterprise resource planning (ERP) rental software for formwork. Ibrahim says frequently recurring administrative procedures can be considerably improved and speeded up with software.
“Nowadays, there is hardly a company anywhere that does not use ERP. Based on the widely used Infor administration software, Paschal’s IT subsidiary, Planitec, has developed a module for rental formwork and site equipment. The motivation behind this was that rental transactions are very important in this sector and have either been ignored or only poorly supported by suitable software to date.”
The Modular column formwork, which will be promoted at the show, is adjustable from 20 to 60 cm sizes and also compatible with Modular wall formwork system. Therefore, the panels can be used for columns, walls, foundations and beams.
Paschal has supplied to many projects in the Gulf region with some others currently under way. In Saudi Arabia, it has supplied formwork for building 24 circular tanks at a wastewater treatment plant in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, where Systech (Riyadh branch) was the contractor. Paschal also supplied formwork to Systech for its Madinah sewage plant project.
This year, Paschal formwork is being used on two key projects in the kingdom: a university in Al Kharj in Riyadh, where the contractor is the Fawzi Group; and a commercial tower in Dammam being built by Venicia.
Paschal intends to further boost its presence in the region and plans to build a new rental and service plant, and expand its distribution network in the Jeddah region.
Founded in 1964, Paschal has its head office in Steinach in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany. The company four branches and a service centre in Germany and 11 subsidiaries and international shareholdings. Other production facilities are in India and Bahrain, which is also the GCC hub. In 2011, Paschal opened a Scientific and Technical Office in Dammam to serve clients in the kingdom.
Paschal can be visited at Stands 316/217-3 at Saudi Build 2014.
