Tower Light wins Qatar rail order
Tower Light, the Italy-based manufacturer of commercial lighting towers, has secured a number of new orders in Qatar through its distributor Mannai Corporation – the latest among them being the supply of a fleet of its VT8 lighting sets to Qatar Rail Development Programme (QRDP) project.
The lighting sets aim to ensure safety of workers on the construction site of Doha Metro rail station, an integral part of QRDP.
Tower Light, which is part of the US-based Generac Power Systems Group, manufactures the world’s largest range of lighting towers for the rental, construction, mining, rail, airport and event industries.
Work on floating berths to begin
Mourjan Marinas – Lusail City, the premier marina in Qatar’s capital Doha, has begun construction of 49 new modern floating berths in response to increasingly high demand for new docks in the country.
With this addition, the number of modern floating berths in the marina will rise to 142, the company said.
The new berths will range between eight and 10 m initially to accommodate a higher number of small-sized boats. Lusail City was awarded Boat Owner Middle East’s Most Interesting Marine Development in 2013.
Tekla opens new office in Qatar
Building software specialist Tekla has opened a new office in Qatar to address the needs of the country’s rapid infrastructure growth.
Advanced building information modelling (BIM) software will enable Qatar to efficiently execute its ambitious plans to roll out more than $200 billion worth of infrastructure projects by 2022, stated the Finland-based company, a leading software engineering corporation specialising in model-based software products for building, construction and infrastructure management.
With open BIM software, contractors and project developers can produce reliable and detailed feasibility studies, ensuring a smoother communication during the whole workflow, from the design to build, and operate phases, said the company.
