JEDDAH Municipality plans to construct three new cities – for residences, recreation, and industry – to balance the architectural landscape and demographics of the kingdom, said a report.
The project includes 1,250 residential buildings offering 25,000 units, reported the Saudi Gazette.
These cities will be located in Gulf Salman, Al Aslaa Valley and Asfan, it added.
The Gulf Salman coastal residential project aims to provide a solution for the housing shortage in the kingdom.
“The infrastructure of the project is complete and the first stage of the project’s plan, to construct 46 residential buildings, has been implemented,” Mohammed Al Bugamy, a spokesman for the Jeddah Municipality, told the newspaper.
The area will be fully supported with all the necessary facilities and services of a model residential area.
It will include the educational, religious, health, sports, recreational, and general services facilities covering an area of 3 million sq m, the report added.
The Al Aslaa Valley city project will cover 130 million sq m in east Jeddah and provide recreational, education, health, and sports facilities, parks and natural reserves.
Meanwhile, the industrial city in Asfan will be developed over an area of 5 million sq m and will have 2,095 industrial facilities, 183 warehouses for various materials such as wood and metal, 22 factories, and 385 stores and showrooms.
