Experts from MAN Truck and Bus, one of the leading suppliers of commercial vehicles and transport solutions worldwide, shared innovative solutions and practices to improve road safety management in the UAE at a seminar in Dubai.
Held last month, the seminar aimed at supporting the UAE government’s 2021 road safety vision, in line with which the government and its various stakeholders such as MAN are working towards an objective of reducing road deaths to three deaths per 100,000 population, thereby placing the UAE among the top five safest countries in the world according to World Health Organisation rankings.
A highlight at the seminar, which was organised as part of the Dubai Chamber sustainability network road safety campaign ‘Be Responsible – Drive Safe’, was MAN’s ProfiDrive training which is a specialised programme designed to raise the level of best driving practices. The training helps drivers learn predictive driving techniques such as how to recognise dangerous situations, calculate the optimum stopping distance and evade obstacles that suddenly emerge.
The key speakers were Richard Brown, head of product management Middle East, and Belaid Rettab, senior director, Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development Sector, Dubai Chamber.
