Vertical transport in the spotlight
Latest technologies that are instrumental in generating efficient vertical transportation systems will be highlighted at the third edition of Smart Skyscrapers Summit to be held in May (16 to 17) in Dubai, UAE.
While supertall skyscrapers play a pivotal role in the vertical growth of a city, delivering effective vertical transportation solutions is critical to the overall design of the building, said experts ahead of the event that will be held from at Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa.
Brad Hariharan, the regional director, Expotrade Middle East, said: “With the increase of supertall structures, there is an imperative need to determine the advancements in lift technology.”
“Our summit will prove to be an invaluable platform to discuss the various vertical transportation strategies that provide maximum space utilisation and also improve building efficiencies,” he added.
It is estimated that every day, more than seven billion elevator journeys are taken in buildings all over the world, said a GCC construction report.
Expo to offer smart water solutions
IWE Istanbul Water Expo 2016 will showcase smart water solutions for a sustainable living from September 1 to 3 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The event, to be held at Istanbul Expo Centre, aims to bring together players of the water and wastewater treatment technologies industry.
The exhibitors will have the opportunity to showcase their latest solutions and products, interact with key decision-makers, and gain new opportunities, said EUF International Trade Fairs, the organiser.
Alongside the exhibition will be a conference called “Smart Water Solutions” that will feature key topics such as water and wastewater management and its future, sustainable use of water resources, best practices in water and wastewater management, membrane technologies and clean manufacturing technologies.
Sustainability challenges discussed
Emirates Green Building Council (EmiratesGBC) addressed the challenges of sustainability in high-rise buildings at a seminar it hosted as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week and as industry supporter of the World Future Energy Summit held last month (January 18 to 21) in Abu Dhabi.
The workshop, titled ‘Renewable Energy Technologies for High-Rise Buildings’, discussed the opportunities and challenges for installing renewable energy systems in high-rise buildings with a concerted focus on the design and building retrofit methods.
EmiratesGBC is an independent forum aiming to conserve the environment by strengthening and promoting green building practices.
