SKAI has won the Tall Buildings prize at this year’s Architectural Review MIPIM Future Projects Awards for the design of its 60-storey Viceroy Dubai Jumeirah Village.
The tower beat off competition from 25 other projects, including Saudi Arabia’s Jeddah Tower to scoop its second design win after winning the 2015 Leisure and Hospitality Project of the Year the Middle East Architect Awards.
Work on the Dh1.37-billion tower ($373 million) tower, which comprises 254 serviced apartments with their own sky gardens and 247 hotel rooms, is on track for completion in late 2017 with China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East), the main contractor and a key investor, completing 10 levels of the core. Skai now plans to build similar towers in other cities in the world.
