CSCEC wins $580m Kuwait ‘education city’ project

01 July 2016

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) said its Middle East unit has won a $580-million management facility deal for Sabah Al Salem University City in Kuwait.

Under the contract awarded by Kuwait government, the Chinese engineering firm will be responsible for the construction and operation and maintenance of the administration facilities at the upcoming project at Kuwait University.

The project consists of seven unique-shaped buildings which will house the administration wing, cultural centre, convocation hall, conference centre, university library, visitor centre and a grand mosque.

The administration facilities, designed to serve as the main gateway to the university city, are characterised by light lacy screens envelopes that create a harmonious interactive dramatic effect between the light and shadow.

In addition, the flexible perimeter will further explore and expand the space of each facility outward and create a pleasant and tranquil garden-like living and studying environment.
