Shapoorji Pallonji’s school job on track

01 July 2015

Dubai-based contractor Shapoorji Pallonji said work at the Amity International School in Abu Dhabi was nearing completion and set for launch in September.

The school, based on the British curriculum and managed by Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC), will accommodate more than 800 students and offer education from pre-kindergarten to grade 12. It boasts an indoor sports hall, auditorium, library, music room, laboratory and a marine centre for sailing and marine sciences. It will also provide a wide range of water sports.

“We are committed to the timelines assigned to us, as we fully understand the responsibility of ADEC to commence school operations in September this year,” stated MD Saini, the chief executive officer and managing director at Shapoorji Pallonji, which secured the contract in November 2014.

The building is recognised as a One Pearl Estidama structure. “We took great care to ensure the implementation of both reusable and locally sourced material, while safeguarding the environment by responsibly disposing our construction waste,” explained Saini. “The biggest challenge was to satisfy the demand of the international school for its high-end finishes. Delivering elements such as the swimming pool, the 550-seat auditorium with the highest acoustic standards as well as an Olympic-size running track, required the highest attention to detail, while using high quality products, all of which we’ve executed on budget and on time.”
