Advanced Construction Technology Services (ACTS), a leading consultant in the field of construction materials and geotechnical engineering, has been awarded a contract to carry out testing on building materials to be used for Qatar 2022 World Cup infrastructure projects.
As per the deal, it will provide services in connection with five World Cup venues including Al Wakrah Stadium and three related energy centres being built for the mega Fifa football tournament.
A 40,000-seater facility, Al Wakrah is located 15 km south of Doha, and will host World Cup quarter-final matches. The stadium’s design has been inspired by the dhows used by pearl divers.
ACTS said it has already completed its task to conduct geophysical surveys on the Al Wakrah Stadium. In addition, the company has been appointed to perform various additional geotechnical and geophysical tasks along with the construction materials testing related to the same stadium.
The consultancy is currently involved in the works on the other four stadiums that are under construction in Qatar.
Elsewhere in the region, ACTS is providing quality control works for other key projects including the Doha Metro, the Riyadh Metro, the King Abdulaziz International Airport, and the Jeddah Tower, the kilometre-high skyscraper that is currently under construction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
