Panasonic says its new Intelli-Balance 100 is the latest high-efficiency, cost-effective energy recovery ventilator (ERV) that significantly improves indoor air quality and has been designed with multi-family dwellings and airtight homes in mind.
Tightly built homes and buildings utilising exhaust only fans can create negative pressure. The Intelli-Balance 100 solves this by supplying air to replace the exhausted air, helping to balance air pressure within the home. It uses four integrated dual 4- or 6-inch round duct adaptors – two to exhaust stale air and two to supply fresh. Its low, continuous run helps remove unwanted, stale air and replace it with fresh air.
Commenting on the new ERV, a company spokesman says: “Biological pollutants, to some degree, are found in all homes. These include mould, mildew, pollen, dust mites, pet dander, viruses and bacteria. Although there is no cure for asthma and allergies, many deaths are preventable with proper treatment and care. Today, forward-thinking builders are embracing mechanical ventilation systems to stay ahead of future regulation and to satisfy customer demand for the best indoor air quality.”
Intelli-Balance 100 meets ventilation codes and minimises the impact of poor indoor air quality. Its key features include:
• Two revolutionary DC motors with Smart Flow technology, which ensure optimum cfm (cu ft per m) output;
• Pick-a-flow speed selector (50 to 100 cfm) to provide customisable air flow, which creates balanced, positive or negative pressure within the home;
• Exclusive built-in Ashrae 62.2 timing function to help ensure code compliance;
• MERV 8 filter, with optional MERV 8 and MERV 13 replacements available; and
• Patented exchange capillary core, which recovers heat and moisture.
The Intelli-Balance 100 can be connected to existing ductwork or used as a standalone, whole-house ventilation solution. This allows it to be installed in many places throughout the home to meet indoor air quality, health and comfort needs. It comes in three mounting options - wall, ceiling or shelf.
It is also an ideal choice when partnered with mini-splits or variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pumps for fresh, balanced air with energy recovery.
