Work is in full swing at the Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD) project, a new smart city being developed at a cost of around $5.5 billion over a 319,200-sq-m area.
The first three phases are undergoing the final testing and commissioning, reported The Peninsula.
A massive project, MDD boasts 100 commercial, and residential buildings, five-star hotels, 800 housing units, medical office building containing clinical, administrative spaces and four museums. It also includes underground parking for around 10,000 cars, said the report.
MDD is a pioneering project being developed to revive an old commercial centre of Doha. Work on the project began in 2000 and has reached its last and fourth phase, stated the report.
There is a tram service linking the parts of the Msheireb in 18 minutes, and the project will also offer residents and tenants access to Msheireb station, the largest Doha Metro station, which marks the junction of Qatar Rail’s three metro lines, the Red, Green and Golden, it added.
