Galfar Engineering and Contracting – Kuwait, one of the largest construction companies in the Gulf, is using a fleet of Dynapac machines to facilitate work on a number of road and infrastructure projects in Kuwait.
These include eight new rollers added recently to its fleet which includes single-drum vibratory, tandem and pneumatic units.
The veteran contracting company, which has been using Dynapac equipment for more than 20 years, says it has a fleet of more than 200 Dynapac machines in operation throughout the region.
According to Siva Prasad, plant and machinery manager at Galfar Engineering and Contracting, Dynapac asphalt tandem and pneumatic rollers are the machines the company relies on for most of its road construction jobs.
Commenting on these machines, he says: “Dynapac machines offer high utilisation rates as well as ensure the best operating costs. They are also easy to maintain and provide operational efficiency to drivers.”
Prasad says on-site studies have shown Dynapac rollers to have the best-in-class tractive performance.
The vibratory rollers are easy to operate and ensure good compaction rates on both high frequency/low amplitude for thin layers, as well as high amplitude for thick layers.
“Our operators on the Wafra Road project in Kuwait, for instance, describe them as ‘maintaining a natural ease of movement’,” he says.
Galfar Engineering and Contracting has Dynapac asphalt rollers in operation in Kuwait. These machines are being used in Kuwait on the RA-238 road project in Wafra, a road project for the Mutla residential development, and at Kuwait Oil Company’s gathering centres at Abdally fields, namely GC29, 30 and 37.
“Dynapac tandem asphalt rollers are designed with efficiency in mind – application efficiency, operator efficiency, compaction control efficiency and service efficiency,” says Issam Gharaibeh, Dynapac’s regional business line manager – Mena (Middle East and North Africa).
“With the Dynapac rollers, you achieve high-quality surface finishes through operational features such as soft starting and stopping to prevent unevenness or cracking in the asphalt layers,” he continues. “The tandem asphalt rollers incorporate a number of features to make servicing quick and easy, ensuring maximum uptime.”
Dynapac’s range of small and medium-size vibratory rollers are used to compact all types of soil with the exception of rockfill. The rollers are suitable for most types of road construction, airfields, dam construction, harbour projects and industrial construction.
Elsewhere in the region, Galfar is operating a large fleet of Dynapac rollers and pavers in Oman and Qatar.
Established in 1972, Galfar Engineering and Contracting is one of the largest construction companies in the GCC, with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) capabilities in the oil and gas, roads, bridges, infrastructure and civil and utilities sectors.
