Dynapac solution optimises paving

01 July 2018

In line with its drive towards digitalisation, leading construction equipment manufacturer Dynapac is offering a new optional paving quality system known as MatManager, which supports road construction companies in the paving process optimisation, control and documentation.

“MatManager keeps track of the material consumption with real-time measurements to ensure the performance is on target and eliminate material overruns,” says Issam Gharaibeh, regional business line manager – Mena (Middle East and North Africa) of Dynapac.

The system uses a range of different input sensors mounted on the asphalt paver to measure and calculate key paving parameters. The data is collected via an interface box, processed and displayed on an external monitor with touch display. All data can be exported for analysing and reporting, he explains.

“Thanks to the quality system, the paving workflow can be optimised because it documents how many kilogrammes you have put down per square metre paved and registers instances of stop, start and loading to document it. This enables a better control, which is supported by the analysing and reporting functions of the tool. The collected data can easily be compared to the required specifications and used for creating job reports,” Gharaibeh adds.

Besides monitoring paving data, MatManager is also used to comply with the documentation requirements of some authorities.

The system is available as a complete add-on system and consists of the following parts: MatManager (control display); 4.5-inch mount arm and 1.5-inch mount ball; carry case; USB stick; interface box; Wire-pull screed width sensor; infra-red (IR) temperature sensor with magnetic mount; distance sensor (a mechanical wheel on the levelling bar); tamper sensor; and weather station with GPS.

The paving quality system is already being used by a number of Dynapac customers worldwide.

Dynapac, part of the Fayat Group, is a leading supplier of high-tech soil and asphalt rollers, pavers and milling equipment that are designed to enhance customer performance. The company is represented worldwide via its own regional sales and service offices, and is also supported by an extensive and professional distribution network.

Headquartered in Wardenburg, Germany, Dynapac has production facilities in Europe, South America and Asia.
