Nakheel has signed a contract worth Dh66 million ($18 million) for the development of a choreographed fountain at The Pointe, its new Dh800-million ($218 million) waterfront dining and entertainment destination on Palm Jumeirah, Dubai.
Beijing Water Design, one of China’s largest fountain specialists, has been roped in by the UAE master-developer to deliver and operate the fountain, which will cover a 12,000-sq-m area of water at the tip of the island, across the bay from Atlantis The Palm.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said: “Palm Jumeirah, our flagship project, is already one of the most popular, sought-after destinations for Dubai’s residents and tourists. The Pointe, our latest addition to this ever-evolving island, is an iconic, must-see attraction that adds a new dimension to the city’s dining, retail and entertainment scene. “
Operated by Nakheel Malls, the retail arm of Nakheel, The Pointe features 70 restaurants, shops and attractions, with food and beverage (F&B) outlets making up some 70 per cent of the concepts on offer. There is also a cinema, children’s play area, supermarket, gyms and beauty salons.
Located 5 km out to sea, The Pointe enjoys cool sea breezes and stunning views. Its 1.5-km promenade is a destination in itself for residents and tourists to unwind at one of Dubai’s most iconic locations, said Nakheel. The Pointe has a car-park for 1,600 vehicles, and will have its own Palm Monorail station. There are also plans for boat access from Palm Jumeirah’s hotels and resorts, it added.
