Reynaers boosts profile with Forster acquisition

01 November 2018

With the acquisition of Forster Profilsysteme last December, Reynaers Aluminium has considerably raised the profile of fireproof systems it can offer to provide up to two hours of protection.

This means good news for Reynaers’ Middle East clients particularly among government institutions and in the hotels and luxury villas sector, who can now benefit from these steel variants that provide high grade and extended fire protection.

Forster Profilsysteme – which was part of the Arbonia Group – is a Swiss developer and producer of high-quality steel and stainless steel profile systems for doors, windows and facades. Both Forster Profilsysteme and Reynaers Aluminium will continue to operate independently, supplying products and services within their individual markets – as two separate companies under the Reynaers Group umbrella.

According to Ali Khalaf, managing director of Reynaers Middle East, the regional office for the Belgium-based Reynaers Aluminium, the acquisition was the result of a strategic decision to strengthen both Reynaers and Forster, and reinforces their leading positions in the construction market for both aluminium and steel solutions.

“Reynaers Aluminium’s fireproof systems currently offer 30 or 60 minutes protection, however, Forster Profilsysteme steel variants provides about two hours of protection. Clients seeking specifically a two-hour window can now benefit by realising architectural projects that include high-end aluminium, steel and glass solutions,” he explains.

“As global energy and security needs have increased significantly over the years, customer demand for architectural systems that combine aesthetics, energy efficiency and safety continues to grow. The acquisition of Forster by Reynaers Group aims to create a profitable partnership that will allow Forster to seize new opportunities in the marketplace and continue its growth,” he adds.

According to Martine Reynaers, the CEO of Reynaers Group, Forster’s leadership position in the development and production of high-quality steel and stainless steel profile systems is complemented perfectly by Reynaers’ leadership role in aluminium solutions.

“With the addition of Forster to our portfolio, we will be able to meet all current and future demands for high-end steel and aluminium solutions with a focus on safety and design. I am confident that our combined forces will strengthen our mutual aim for sustainable growth. Our respective employees, customers and partners, such as architects and planners, all stand to benefit,” she says.

Reynaers says both companies share a commitment to continuous product innovation, design, and superior customer service. “This common heritage in our cultures, performance expectations and focus on quality will remain the main driver in creating solutions tailored specifically for and with our partners,” she says.

“The companies will continue to focus on serving their individual partners, yet working closely to maximise cross-pollination in research and development (R&D) and information and communication technology (ICT), allowing for a faster learning curve,” Reynaers adds.

Established in 1874, Forster Profilsysteme is internationally recognised for its high-performance and qualitative security and fire protection solutions. Profiles are shipped from the 14,000-sq-m production site in Arbon, Switzerland, to customers around the world. Forster employs 210 people across its Swiss headquarters and regional offices in 11 countries.

Reynaers Middle East is the Bahrain-based regional subsidiary of Reynaers Aluminium, a leading European specialist that manufactures and markets innovative and sustainable aluminium solutions for windows, doors, curtain-walls, sliding systems, sun-screening and conservatories.

Apart from a wide range of standard solutions, the company also develops tailor-made solutions for all market sectors – from residential to commercial and industrial projects. Reynaers’ high-quality systems meet the most stringent demands in terms of comfort, security, architectural design, and energy-efficiency. It acts as a valuable partner for architects, fabricators, solar installers, project developers, investors and end-users.

Founded in 1965, Reynaers employs over 1,770 workers in 40 countries worldwide and exports to more than 70 countries on five continents.
