Bridge opens at Expo Road
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has opened a main bridge at the intersection of Expo Road and Al Asayel Street.
The bridge is a part of Phase Five of the roads network leading to Expo site. This phase is more than 50 per cent complete, with construction set to be finished this June.
“RTA has partially opened three lanes in each direction of the bridge on Expo Road. This phase includes the construction of bridges extending 2.6 km and roads spanning about 3 km. Expo Road will be widened to six lanes in each direction over a 3-km sector,” remarked Mattar Al Tayer, director-general and chairman of the board of executive directors of the RTA.
Expo Road will be elevated and widened through the construction of two bridges, each of six lanes in each direction.
Siemens wins plant extension deal
Global technology major Siemens said it has secured an extension of a multi-year maintenance service agreement from Shuweihat S2 Operation and Maintenance Company for its combined-cycle power and water project in Abu Dhabi.
With this new 18-year extension, Siemens will deploy products from its Omnivise digital services portfolio including cybersecurity solutions to help improve asset visibility, reliability and availability.
Under the terms of the contract, Siemens is responsible to support the 1,500-MW Shuweihat S2 IWPP (independent water and power plant), in the UAE capital.
Wood secures refinery contract
Wood Group, a global leader in engineering, project and technical services, has been signed up by Adnoc Refining to provide pre-front-end engineering and designing (Pre-Feed) services for its new refinery coming up in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi.
With this announcement, Wood took a step closer to building the world’s largest integrated refining and petrochemicals complex, in Ruwais, said the Abu Dhabi group. The award is for a state-of-the-art refinery with a capacity of 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day (bpd) and will be designed to have full conversion capability and allow integration with the petrochemicals industries in Ruwais which is already the fourth largest single site refinery in the world.
The award of the Pre-Feed contract is the second stage in a four-stage process to get to the beginning of construction. The Pre-Feed is expected to be completed by the end of this year, said the top official.
