Ansari Engineering Services (AES) has teamed up with leading 3D scanning company Faro to play a pioneering role in Bahrain in the field of building information modelling (BIM), which offers immense opportunities for revolutionising the engineering and design industry.
The move fits perfectly well with the company’s aim of continuous growth and improvement.
According to a senior official of AES, while traditional computer-aided design and drafting software applications are still widely used, BIM is undoubtedly the future, and hence AES has accepted the challenge and joined the world of BIM automation.
“It’s just a matter of time before engineering companies as well as their clients realise where technology is headed and get on the train before it’s too late,” says Mike Stanley, commercial manager of AES.
He says AES’s collaboration with Faro has helped it develop detailed as-built drawings where highly accurate models of existing buildings are captured with advanced 3D point cloud scanning devices.
“The 3D scanner captures millions of points throughout the building, giving a high degree of detail such as level of light fitting locations, ceiling grids, architraves, skirting, etc,” says Stanley.
Established in 1978, AES is a leading ISO 9001:2015-certified multi-disciplined Grade A engineering consultancy practice registered with the Council for Regulating the Practice of Engineering Professions (CRPEP) in Bahrain in various engineering disciplines, including architecture, structural engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, land surveying and interior design.
The company has acquired more than 40 years of experience working on a wide range of engineering projects in Bahrain as well as the wider GCC region in the industrial, retail, sports and recreation, hotel and leisure, residential and commercial sectors.
AES provides a broad-ranging and fully comprehensive service that can ensure the successful management of a project, from initial design concept, through all work stages, to final site works completion and certification.
As an example, AES is currently developing a beach resort project strategically located near the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC), on the west coast of Bahrain. Construction is scheduled to start later in the year.
AES’s scope of work on the project includes that of lead consultant; architect/engineer of record; architectural detailed design; structural, marine, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) detailed design for all phases including tendering procedures and site supervision.
