Reynaers expands footprint in Iraq market

01 August 2019

Reynaers Aluminium, which has recently expanded its footprint in the Middle East with the addition of Iraq to the portfolio of its regional office Reynaers Middle East, reports good response to its aluminium systems in that high-potential market.

“It is a very exciting time for us, where we see heightened activity and revival of business opportunities in Iraq as the country advances its efforts to rebuild,” Ali Khalaf, managing director of Reynaers Middle East, told Gulf Construction.

Since its recent entry into the Iraqi market in the last quarter of 2018, Reynaers Middle East has made progressive strides in acquiring business in the country and is pleased with the response of the market towards quality European aluminium systems, added Khalaf.

“Like other markets, the country too has its own dynamics and challenges; however, we are very hopeful of a revival in infrastructure developments in the country, where many GCC and Turkish companies are taking a leading role through real estate and residential investments. The good news is that the Iraqi customer has an eye for high-quality products and can easily distinguish between the performance levels of local aluminium systems and international ones,” explained Khalaf.

As part of its well-researched ‘go-to’ market strategy, Reynaers Middle East identified Iraq as a strategic geographical location to penetrate, given the country’s proximity to Jordan and the GCC.

“Since, we have already been supplying in Jordan for a considerable time, we have leveraged our reach to Iraq as well. Additionally, we have a local sales manager, Alaa Al Tamimmi,  exclusively handling this market to ensure our customers have immediate access to any information or specific value engineering required for their projects,” he added.

In a bid to create awareness of the company’s services being offered  in Baghdad, Reynaers Middle East also participated in Project Iraq 2018 last December, where samples of its most popular products, including its curtain-wall, doors and windows, and sliding series, were displayed.

Its stand at Project Iraq 2018 proved to be the busiest at the event and recorded a very high number of visitors who expressed interest in the entry of high-quality European aluminium systems in the local market, said Khalaf.

Some of the newly completed projects in Iraq where Reynaers Aluminium’s curtain-wall CW 50 series has been installed include the Qasr Al Dur Hotel in Najaf, Coral Karbala Hotel, Baghdad Medical Clinic and Baghdad El Marai Factory.

Other projects include the Al Khoei Institute in Najaf, which features the curtain-wall CW 50-SC series, the ES 50 series doors and windows and the CP 96 sliding series.

“Currently, we are bidding for some of the country’s high-profile projects, and if we are successful, we will add landmark projects in Iraq to Reynaers Aluminium’s portfolio,” he added.
