Bahrain has officially laid the foundation stone of its pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) president and commissioner-general of the Bahrain Pavilion Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa attended the official ceremony, along with 2020 Dubai Expo Bureau executive director Najib Mohammed Al Ali and Bahrain ambassador to the UAE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla bin Ali Al Khalifa, reported Bahrain News Agency (BNA).
Bahrain’s pavilion, which covers 2,000 sq m, is operating under the thematic umbrella of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, which examines the relationship between density, opportunity, sustainability and mobility as components of a thriving society.
Renowned Swiss engineer Christian Kerres was commissioned to design Bahrain’s pavilion as a pathway to explore the interrelationships between creativity, density, and opportunity.
The pavilion was designed to be a 24-m semi-cubic building with a central and open viewing area (30 m in length and width), supported by 126 columns, which are 11 cm thick.
BACA is cooperating with Wanders Werner Falasi Consulting Architects from the UAE to implement the Bahrain Pavilion at 2020 Dubai Expo.
