Hungary has unveiled the design of its country pavilion for the upcoming Expo 2020 event in Dubai.
Designed by Lörinc Csernyus, a student of the legendary Imre Makovecz, the timber-framed circular pavilion pays tribute to the country’s thermal waters on a 1,828-sq-m plot in the Mobility District.
The official website of the Hungarian Government stated that in line with the country’s tourism image “Wellspring of Wonders”, the message of the Hungarian pavilion will focus on water, with special regard to balneology and curative tourism.
Péter Szijjártó, Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, revealed that the government has earmarked 21 billion forints ($75.4 million) for the country’s participation in the Expo.
“The central theme of Hungary’s presentation will be water, and the government expects Hungarian water management technologies to enter the market in the UAE as a result of its presence at the Expo,” he added.
The participation agreement was signed in April by Hungarian Minister of State for the development and coordination of EU policies Szabolcs Takacs, who is also ministerial commissioner for Expo 2020 Dubai, and Najeeb Mohammed Al Ali, the executive director of Dubai Expo 2020 in Dubai.
