Bahrain's Cabinet last month approved projects worth BD615 million ($1.62 billion) to expand the nation’s electricity and water networks.
The session, chaired by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, approved them after Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, who heads a ministerial committee for financial, economic and fiscal balance affairs, presented a memorandum that included project details and financing mechanisms. The projects are part of the second phase of Al Dur Power and Water Plant.
The Crown Prince instructed the Electricity and Water Affairs Ministry to inspect the old utility transmission and distribution network, and to submit a plan to the Government Executive Committee.
