The UAE authorities have announced the completion of work on the Dh1.9-billion ($517 million) Mohamed bin Zayed City housing project in Fujairah, which has been set up as a modern and sustainable housing scheme for mid-income Emiratis.
Spread over a 2.2-sq-km area, Mohamed bin Zayed Residential City accommodates 1,100 residential villas equipped with advanced facilities.
Located in the Al Hail area, 3 km south of Fujairah airport, Mohamed bin Zayed Residential City boasts 20 public parks and plots of land designated for public services. In time, it will include schools, mosques, parks and commercial stores in addition to a community cultural centre.
The project comes in line with the UAE leadership’s focus on the housing sector in order to achieve developments across all regions of the country to serve the citizens, said senior officials.
The total area of housing works in the residential city is 950,400 sq m (around 44.2 per cent of the total area of the project), while the road area extends to 361,895 sq m, representing 16.8 per cent of the total area. The area of external flooring works is around 258,840 sq m, or 12.04 per cent of the total project area. The green areas cover around 281,240 sq m, or 13.1 per cent of the total project area.
Service plots extend over an area of 297,625 sq m, or 13.86 per cent of the total project area. The city offers 583 five-bedroom villas, 417 four-bedroom villas, and 100 three-bedroom villas. The city also includes three main power stations and 19 subsidiary power stations and a pumping station, in addition to a sewage station.
Mohamed bin Zayed Residential City features modern designs, combining local and Andalusian heritage. It takes into account the privacy of citizens while meeting their housing needs with all necessary amenities. It also boasts an advanced infrastructure that includes 40 km of roads, 139 km of electrical network, as well as a streetlighting, drinking water and rainwater drainage networks.
