Union Coop, the largest consumer cooperative in the UAE, has announced that 92 per cent of the work has been completed on its Warqa’a City Mall project being developed at an investment of Dh215 million ($58.5 million) in Dubai.
The project is part of Union Coop’s plan for strategic expansion and increasing its outreach to serve the society, and aims to provide a unique shopping experience, said the co-operative.
Located in Al Warqa’a-3 area of Dubai, it overlooks the Tripoli Street that separates Al Warqa’a area from Mirdif and leads to Emirates Road. Moreover, the strategic location enables the mall to serve a large segment of the population of the region, said Union Coop.
The retail destination consists of two basements, ground, first floor and offices floor with a total build-up area of 673,200 sq ft.
The two floors of the basement and part of the ground floor provide 671 parking spaces.
The mall will also contain 44 stores with an area of 56,664 sq ft with 26 stores on the ground floor and 18 on the first floor. The second floor will also be used for the Union Coop management offices with an area of 55,000 sq ft.
CEO Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi said: “Al Warqa’a City Mall project is in the final finishing stages and under inspection by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority for power connection. The showroom shelving and refrigerating equipment are already supplied and the installation has started.”
“The project will be delivered by the contractor in the middle of July,” he stated.
Union Coop has coordinated with the Roads and Transport Authority to implement the roads surrounding the mall as well as the link to Tripoli’s main street, at a total cost of Dh25 million. More than 20 per cent of the work has been completed and all roads will be ready by mid-July, he added.
