Sewa completes 305-km network
Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) has completed the implementation of a 305-km natural gas network in all areas of Rahmaniyah, bringing the length of the network in the city of Sharjah to 1,750 km.
Sewa is currently working on implementing a strategic 16-km line from the Rahmaniyah station to the Muwailih commercial area, to serve the region and a number of areas and development projects, such as Al Waha, Nasma, Al Zahia and other new projects, reported state-run news agency Wam.
Sewa aims to deliver services to the people of the Rahmaniyah areas, and to take advantage of the natural gas pumping station. The services connect to 700 residential villas, and the rest of the buildings under way.
Meraas to be part of Dubai Holding
Meraas, Dubai’s premier developer and operator of lifestyle destinations, will now become part of Dubai Holding, a global investment holding company, following a decision taken by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Meraas will join forces with Dubai Holding, the investment arm of the Dubai government, in an effort to sustain and advance growth through a unified and integrated vision that builds on gains, spurs efforts and boosts Dubai’s global competitiveness, a statement quoted by Khaleej Times newspaper said.
Meraas has launched several projects in multiple sectors including real estate, retail, hospitality, food and beverage, leisure and entertainment and healthcare. These include City Walk, Bluewaters Island, Jumeira Bay, Pearl Jumeira, La Mer, and Dubai Harbour.
$5.4bn infrastructure pipeline
The UAE economy will likely witness a combination of a U- or V-shaped recovery following Covid-19, on the back of a strong infrastructure pipeline, said the Minister of Infrastructure Development Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi.
The emirates currently has a pipeline of Dh20 billion ($5.4 billion) of federal infrastructure projects, including Dh7 billion ($1.9 billion) for state-sponsored housing programmes, Al Nuaimi, said in an interview with Bloomberg TV. “The plans will continue,” he added.
Al Nuaimi also discussed the UAE’s infrastructure projects the ministry is currently working on and the impact of coronavirus on the economy.
